Patterns & Techniques Defensive Technique

No JADE

No JADE keeps you from handing over more material when someone is trying to pull you into a trial.

What it means

JADE stands for Justify, Argue, Defend, Explain.

No JADE does not mean you never explain. It means you stop explaining when explanation has become the trap.

A common situation

You say no, and the other person asks for your reasons, then attacks each reason one by one.

The conversation is no longer about understanding. It is about finding a handle.

What is actually happening

JADE loops reward more detail with more objections.

No JADE protects the decision from becoming an endless audition for reasonableness.

When to use it

  • Use it when every reason you give becomes a new objection.
  • Recognize the urge to prove you are reasonable before you are allowed to say no.

Example language

I am not available for that.

My answer stays the same.

I am not debating my character.

What to do next

  • State the decision directly.
  • Answer the actual request, not every accusation around it.
  • Use Broken Record or Boundary if the loop continues.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Do not confuse No JADE with stonewalling.
  • If a real repair conversation is happening, some explanation may be appropriate.

Response scripts

I am not available for that.

I am willing to discuss the plan, not debate whether I am a good person.

I have answered the request. I am not going through every reason again.

When to use the simulator

Use the simulator when you feel pulled to prove your character. No JADE practice trains shorter answers without becoming evasive.
